Journey to Rediscover Jesus Day 39: People of Possibility

Philippians 4:13 reads, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I have had to rely upon this bible verse throughout Lent as I have faced challenges and worries. I have often said to others that I don’t know how people without faith get through the difficult times. It has only been with Christ’s help that I have been able to keep going. I have so much hope because of Christ and that hope helps to guide me and help me persevere even through the darkest days.

Chapter 39: People of Possibility

It has been hard seeing my son suffer so much. I can only imagine how much Mary suffered watching her Son go through incredible torture and death. In all her pain she also had incredible hope. She had been witness to, since the moment of his conception, amazing miracles. She had opened her heart, her mind, her body and her soul to God’s love and because of this she became a part of the greatest gift of all time. She became the vehicle in which hope, love, and salvation entered the world.

Point to Ponder: Open your heart, mind, and soul to the possibilities.

When we, like Mary, open our hearts, minds, and souls to God He begins to work in miraculous ways in our lives. We often don’t see these small miracles because we are so busy looking for the great big ones. But, when we say yes to God we agree to allow him to work in and through us, just as Mary did. And while we won’t be physically bringing the Savior into the world as Mary did, we can bring him into the world through our thoughts, words, and deeds. But if we never open ourselves up to the possibilities then we will never be able to participate in God’s hope and salvation.

Verse to Live: “For God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

When we are at our lowest we simply must pray that God’s will be done in our lives. While we may not get what we want or think we need, God can bring good out of any situation. For him, all things are possible. What do we have to lose in giving him our trust and our hope?

Question to Consider: Have you ever tried to live Christianity wholeheartedly?

Yes, I try every single day. I often fail. But, even in our failure God calls us to keep trying. The more we practice, the better we get at it! Like Matthew Kelly, I can’t even imagine living any other way than living out Christ’s teachings in the Gospels. It is the best way to live. And, even though I often fail, I know that God forgives me and asks me to keep trying.

Your Turn: What keeps you from living an authentically Christian life? Do you think that through Christ all things are possible? If you do, why don’t you trust him more? Will you begin trusting him today?

Prayer: Lord, help me to see the possibilities.

Help me to trust in you. I know that you will always guide me in the right direction. I give my life, my heart, and my soul to you. Amen.
