Imported from my old blog, this was written on October 17, 2006… it still rings true today 🙂
Mike has not had a day off from work in several weeks. He’s been so busy and we’ve hardly seen him at all. We’ve missed him. After working a 12 hour day and having only slept for about 4 hours the night before, Mike came home dead tired. I completely thought he would just settle in front of the tv and fall asleep. Instead he came home, went to check in on the three little girls who were still awake, and got down on the floor with them gathered in his lap and read them a bedtime story.
I could hear his deep voice reading about a silly little worm, heard the tiny voices of the girls ask questions and his respond to them. When he was done with the story I could hear him tell each of them he loved them and their responses of “I love you too, Daddy”. It made my heart swell.
I love my husband for so many reasons but one of the greatest reasons of all, he is a wonderful father. Nothing is more touching that to see a big, strong man loving on his children. It melts my heart every time.
